Before this program, I  would have without a doubt run into a plateau with my teaching style. I found myself looking for things to make learning fun for my kids and completely overlooked what was right in front of me. Every teacher's annoyance turned into my greatest asset. My students loved to talk, they have infectious and bright personalities I didn't want to quiet. They are and have always been a group of hilarious and fearless students. Earlier in this project we hit a random technological hiccup and that didn’t stop then. They forgave my absent mindedness ( I accidentally lost their podcast audio archive) and began a new idea. We now have a hilarious and insightful town hall with students, parents and teacher alike. Our latest dabble has been in online magazines and my students have quickly begun creating their first issue. More importantly these projects have transformed me as an educator. I finally got the courage to step away and allow my kids to take charge of their own learning. The podcast will continue, but honestly i won't mention it until the children do. It was their idea to have open discussions via a panel, it was their idea to start a magazine. Through MSU i’ve awaken  something in my students. Something all teacher search a career to find. I've awakened hope. I am proud to have been so blessed an so lucky to be in a place with such talented and progressive people. I was in the teacher sunken place, but now im woke and i'm grateful for it.
