Stuck in the shallow end highlights the importance of the availability  and opportunity. For my student's they often get turned away from math because of past difficulties. The initially shun the thought of new knowledge because they assume that without mathematical foundation complex thought is impossible. What my students discover is that it's never too late to learn. There is an abundance of information within them if they are open to learning. Yes, it is highly possible and probable that teachers in the past failed to awaken them, but there is opportunity now. There is nothing in the way of their progress. One of the huge points of stuck in the shallow end is retraining the mind to recognize and challenge the way society views intelligence. In my imagineIT Nerdy is cool, conversation is cool,  the blackness of my skin makes me just as qualified. To solve this problem I will encourage that thought. I will encourage my students to always look to acquire knowledge. Finding their genius, helping them learn how they learn best, and encouraging intellectual thought.
